British Retail Consortium Global Standard is designed for any supplier, regardless of product or country of origin, that supplier food product to the UK retailers. Compliance to this scheme is not a legal requirement but it has been highly recommended by UK retailer. To comply with the standard the food supplier/manufacturer must adopt three main criteria in their management system.

• The adoption and implementation of HACCP
• A document and effective quality management system.
• Control of factory environment standards, products, processes and personnel.
